Paul B. Ferguson moved to Sussex County in 1959 from Little Falls, NJ purchasing his first funeral home, Ferguson Funeral Home in Sussex. In 1970, he purchased F. John Ramsey Funeral Home and Sussex County Monument Company in Franklin, NJ. Along with his son, Paul D. Ferguson, they built Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home in Vernon on land he purchased in 1965. This funeral home was opened in 1988. The elder, Paul B. Ferguson completed his studies in mortuary science at American Academy of Funeral Service in New York, NY and became a licensed funeral director in the State of New Jersey in 1958.

He continued to actively work for 34 years until his retirement in 1992. His son Paul completed his studies at the University of Minnesota in 1984 and has been a licensed funeral director in the State of New Jersey since that time. He is presently the general manager of the 3 funeral homes and monument business. Along with Mr. Ferguson, there are 3 other important staff members comprising a total of 110 years of experience in funeral service. , assistant managers, Donald Brossman and Gary Harris and office manager Patricia Ferguson (Paul's sister). Along with an experienced support staff of 7 part time employees the funeral homes continue to serve the Sussex County community and lower Orange County, NY.
