Lifetimes of memories

My mother, Edna Fegley, and I have many wonderful memories of my father's "baby sister" Frances. She and her sister, Hope, used to take turns pushing Frances in her baby carriage. Little did she imagine then that she would end up marrying Frances's big brother, Bill! She remembers Frances's love of horseback riding as a teenager, and how she used to help out in the stables in return for riding lessons. One of my earliest memories of Aunt Frances is seeing her come down the aisle of Simpson Methodist Church on Grandpa's arm in her beautiful and so very distinctive ice blue wedding gown. Many times over the years we shared holidays and other special occasions at the Hartmann house in Wayne--not just Hartmanns and Fegleys and Estlers, but my grandmother Grimshaw, Aunt Rose's mother, and cousin Grace's mother. Everyone was welcome. In May of 2001, when my father was dying, my mother fell and injured her leg. She was unable to care for herself, and eventually I had to get back to work. So we called Aunt Frances and she dropped everything and came to stay with my mother for several weeks until we could make other arrangements. We will always be so very grateful for her kindness. There are, of course, so many other memories of her from over the years which we know many other people share with us, but these are a few that we recall that may not be quite as well known.
