Obituary for Joseph J Donnelly

Wantage Twp., NJ: Joseph J. Donnelly, 86 years old, died after complications from Parkinson's disease at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, Fredon Twp., NJ on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Born to Joseph and Flora Donnelly in Newark, NJ, he lived in Newark, Bloomfield and Montville, NJ before moving to Wantage Twp., NJ 30 years ago.

Joseph was the owner and operator of the Newark Dairy Queen and then the Newfoundland Dairy Queen for many years. He was a member of Ring 25, the boxing organization in North Arlington, NJ, The Wanderers Antique Auto Club, the Antique Auto Club of America and the United States Trotting Association. He was known for his gift of talk and always making friends.

Joseph is the beloved husband for 42 years of Theresa Donnelly(nee Matthews) of Wantage Twp., NJ and devoted father of 5 children. He is predeceased by his oldest son, Larry Donnelly (1988). Survived by his daughter Christine Annichiarico and her husband, Ron of Rio Rancho, NM, son Paul Donnelly and his wife, Marguerite of Clarksburg, NJ, daughter Audrey West of Coatesville, PA and son Joseph Donnelly of Miami, FL. Loving grandfather of Keith, Brian, Scott, Jason, Melinda, Mark, Sarah, Shannon, Justin, Brendan, Sean and Kaitlin. Great grandfather of Carolina, Preston, Matthew and Andrew. Son in law of Alice Matthews of Wantage Twp., NJ. Father in law of Ruth Robinson of Pine Brook, NJ.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral will start at the funeral home on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, NJ at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Foundation, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
