Click here to view all obituariesCamping at Fish Creek Ponds was an annual early summer trip, which turned into 2 trips per summer. We added a week in August because of friendship and love of the area. Of course the second trip had to be scheduled after the Sussex County Fair, you know the bees come first!
Adirondacks 21 Club. Yes, Deb and JC have been members since its inception. When? Years ago, I can't remember. Those in our special group know what that is all about! Every year we have a blast dining at great camps and restaurants and frequently talked about where we'd go on our next trip. At one of our dinners to Mykonos we had a young waiter who was on the Olympic Doubles Luge team. His name was Jayson Terdiman. He told us to call him the “Terd.” He invited all of us to the training center in Lake Placid to see their training facility for start practices. The Terd told us we could ride a sled on their training start and Deb was the first to say, "Lets do this!" So the next day we all headed to town for our practice starts. Adirondack 21 Club will continue and we will toast to Debbie when we dine.
Another special memory about Deb camping was our visits from hummingbirds. It was really exciting a couple years ago when we had a dozen of them buzzing around morning and late afternoon. We watched them fighting for a chance to get to Deb's hummingbird feeder. We had a ball every afternoon watching the flittering birds as we had an early evening beverage. Deb was so informed and talked about our feathered friends as well as all creatures and always shared her knowledge with others. The end of our trip Deb and JC were packing up and leaving. Don and I said our goodbyes and went on a bike ride around the lake. When we got back to our site, low and behold, on our picnic table was a new hummingbird feeder with sugar and directions for filling it. I will always think of our dear friend Debbie whenever I see a hummingbird anywhere and remember her kindness and generosity.
To JC and Debbie's family, may these memories help you know how many lives Deb has touched and that she will always be remembered.
