We are broken hearted to share that our son, Thomas O. Richards, Jr., passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He died peacefully in our home with both of us by his side.
Tom O. lived a simple, unassuming life. He loved his mother, Betty Richards, his family and his friends tremendously.
He was happiest when he was fishing, boating or hunting and especially loved sharing those experiences with his father, Thomas Sr.
In 2015 Tom O. was diagnosed with prostate cancer which spread to his bones. The past four months have been an endless struggle of cancer treatments, surgery, transfusions, excruciating pain and long hospital stays. He is finally free from pain and for that we are grateful.
Thank you to all of our family and friends who reached out and prayed for us through his illness. A huge thank you to Orange & Sullivan Hospice. With their help and encouragement Tom Sr. and I were able to care for Tom O. in our home until he fell asleep in death.
We are comforted by a Bible scripture that promises a future without death and suffering - "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
As per Tom O.'s wishes he will be cremated and there will not be a service.
