Sussex: Margaret J. “Peggy” Armstrong 84, died Sunday September 17, 2017 at Newton Medical Center following a long illness. Mrs. Armstrong, daughter of the late John K. and Cora (Lott) Balling was born in Abington, PA April 7, 1933. She was a longtime resident of Sussex, moving to Poultney, VT in 1990 and recently returning to Sussex.

Mrs. Armstrong worked for the former Farmer’s National Bank in Sussex for many years. She was a member of the Sussex Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pvt. Charles Auberger American Legion Post #213 of Sussex. Mrs. Armstrong was also a former Sunday School Teacher at Sussex Presbyterian Church, was active with the PTA in the Sussex Schools and was a member of the High Point Garden Club.

Mrs. Armstrong was predeceased by her husband George T. Armstrong in 2002 and her sister Ruth Burrell. She is survived by her children, Candace McMahon & her husband Thomas of Bucks County, PA, Susan A. Martin & her husband Jeffrey of Wantage, Thomas Armstrong of Sussex and Scott Armstrong & his wife Daren of Sussex; grandchildren, Sean, Erinn, Kyle, Gregory, Madyson, Jordyn, Nicole, Jessie, Hallie, Joshua, Tanner and Jaclyn; great grandchildren, Xavier, Seraphina, Stella and Kroy; nephew, John Hamilton and her dear friends in Vermont.

Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third St. Sussex. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday September 21, 2017 at 11:00AM also at the funeral home with interment of ashes to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Sussex.
