Obituary for Richard John Ramage, Sr

Newton: Richard John Ramage, Sr., 93 went to be with his Lord on Tuesday May 22, 2018 at his home in Newton. Loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born April 21, 1925 in Hamburg, son of John and Estella (Block) Ramage. Richard lived in Ogdensburg for most of his life and later in Burlington, PA for 7 years, recently returning to Newton. Richard served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Vixen.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Ramage, Estella Deniska and stepfather Joseph Deniska. John, his father, was killed in a hunting accident in 1927. Richard was also predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Felicia Sanabria and Tyler Ramage and his brother, William Ramage.

Additionally, Richard was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Jennie whom he married May 29, 1948. He is survived by his children, Joyce Faasse & her husband Robert of Berlin, NJ, Patricia Sanabria of Burlington, PA, Louise Blodis of Newton, NJ and Richard J. Ramage, Jr & his wife Carren of Stillwater; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Richard was formerly employed by the NJ Zinc Company for 35 years and also worked for the State of NJ as a Mine Inspector. He is an Exempt Member of the Ogdensburg First Aid Squad and has been a member of Sgt. Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post #132 of Franklin for 57 years. He is a Past Post Commander and Past Sussex County Commander as well as Past Vice Commander State of NJ. Richard was also a member of the Lt. Robert T. Madden VFW Post #10152 of Ogdensburg.

A funeral service will be held Friday May 25, 2018 at 8:30PM at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home One Main St. Franklin. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-8:30PM. Interment will be held Saturday May 26, 2018 11:00AM at Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington Twp., PA. American Legion and VFW Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30PM.
