Click here to view all obituariesWe got to know Deb and JC through our annual family trips to Fish Creek Ponds in the Adirondacks. My husband Kevin along with our sons Jack and Brennan will miss her dearly.
Deb always was ready for any adventure! I think she probably laughed at my dislike for bugs and dirt considering where we vacationed! Everytime we got the boat out, Deb would ask Craig, my father in law, or Kevin my husband, "Hey! Will you take me for a drag around the lake?"....she often was the only woman to go water skiing besides my sister in law Amy! Deb was an encourager as she always had tips for my older son Jack when he, at the young age of 3 expressed interest in water skiing. You can see her in the photos behind him as he took off on a trainer ski!
I fondly remember going geo caching or a "scavenger hunt" of sorts with Deb where we had to take a boat and climb rocks all in bare feet to find buried treasure which was usually chewing gum or glow sticks, much to my dismay. Deb and JC also took us on our one only hike up Panther Mountain and taught my 2 boys how to find trail markers, animal prints, and to stay away from poison ivy! She aso taught them about catfish and how protective of their fry they are. She taught them about the dangers of brown recluse spiders after she got bit by one on one of our trips. She also taught them to laugh despite your circumstances after some fellow campers decorated her camper with Halloween spiders the following year!
One of my fondest, yet, most endearing memories of Deb though was that her and JC's campsite was right in the middle of my family's, 2 friends' families and my inlaws. There are now 6 kids among us all. They all ran through their site non-stop. It became a joke that there was a password to cross through.... Deb, not giving a hoot what they would say, would ALWAYS respond with a smile, "You may pass." To hear that this year, her goal was to just watch the kids run through the site warmed my heart tremendously. She had a place for children she saw one week of the year. But, this year, God told her it was her tme to pass on to Him. We can find peace in knowing she is with Mogul, no longer in pain. We'll miss you, Deb! Much love always....
